Bovine albumin protects mycobacteria from toxic compounds, glucose supplies energy, catalase destroys peroxides and sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance.
One 50 mL bottle is added aseptically to the compatible volume of sterile, cooled Middlebrook 7H9 base. The completed broth supports mycobacterial cultivation and subsequent laboratory testing.
