Description
Sulfamethazine Supplement is a selective supplement used with Baird Parker Agar for isolation and enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus.
Sulfamethazine suppresses Proteus growth and swarming when this interfering organism is suspected. One vial is sufficient for 500 mL of base medium and is used together with egg-yolk tellurite emulsion.
The reconstituted supplement is added aseptically to the sterile cooled agar. The completed medium is used according to the ISO 6888 workflow.
